From the very first time the show Fashion Hong Kong has been held at Copenhagen Fashion Week it has been a pleasure to see something different down the catwalk. Something different from the other Danish or Nordic fashion houses during the fashion week in Copenhagen. Once again the Fashion Hong Kong show (with 3 Hong Kong-nese designers) offered some diversity down the catwalk. Among those where Mr. Leung Ka Kin designer and debutant to the European and Copenhagen catwalk.
INTERVIEW WITH LEUNG KA KIN (ENG) backstage after the show, Copenhagen City Hall
Why have you invested in the Danish Copenhagen scene of fashion?
‘’Actually I quite like this place!’’ ‘’This is my first time here’’ I’m interested in the Danish market, because I think Danes dress very stylish, but at the same time they have their own personality… that’s why I want to show my collection here’’
How do you feel about the feedback?
‘’The feedback is quite positive!’’ ‘’My collection is quite different from the other two designers and do have very strong characters and also have some appeal for the youth’’
What have been the main source inspiration of the collection?
‘’The inspiration mainly comes from the military and work wear, but I’ve also been inspired by a New York based artist and his art installation which mainly is made of wood and some acrylics together with cutting details created in the wood hence to my collection.’’ ‘’The illusions from my styles are from this inspiration’’
What have been the biggest challenge of your collection?
‘’The biggest challenge have been to make the styles’’ ‘’It has been comprehensive because most of the military or work wear styles have been made in green and blue colour, but and also how to use the colours in our own way’’
